Thank You 2016, Welcome 2017!

This is an article that will run in the January issues of our local papers.  My blog readers get the opportunity, before anyone else, to view it.

What a year was 2016!
The most asked question we received in the shop was “What is the difference between the Clock Shop, the Clock Works, and the Appraisals portions of the business.”
Simply put, the Clock Shop is the original portion of the business offering clock repairs, clock restorations, and sales of new, vintage, and antique clocks.
The Clock Works is the portion of the business that builds and creates clocks from reclaimed, recycled, and up-cycled materials; these clocks are referred to as “The Green Line”
The Appraisal portion of the business is where we offer certified appraisals of antiques from a single piece to an entire estate in verbal or written format.
We hope this helps with understanding what all we offer.
There were many changes and pressures in the world in general, but here at the Clock Shop we saw growth and expansion of offerings.
2016 ushered in Dorrin receiving his final commendations and is now a fully “Certified Antiques Appraiser”.  The Clock Works portion of the shop grew with added offerings of 24 different clock designs made from recycled, repurposed, and up-cycled items.
The Clock Shop saw an increase in repairs, restorations, and house calls scheduled, as well as sales of antique and vintage clocks.  People often wonder if their clock can be repaired/restored.
Below is an example of a recent restoration.  This is a circa 1840 Ogee clock that had been stored in the rafters of an out building for decades.  We were able to perform a sympathetic restoration on this piece with very good results.

2017 looks to be a promising year with expansion of work areas for the clock shop.  The creation of our stained glass and fused glass line will enable us to increase our offerings of clocks available with the Clock Works
The stained glass pieces will be patterned after antique quilt patches and the fused glass pieces will be reminiscent of water colors of the early 20th century.  We are really looking forward to this new outlet for our creative expression.
We will be creating a vastly expanded online presence and both the Clock Shop and Clock Works will be offering their items for sale on this site.  The site will be advertised & linked to our Facebook accounts for easy access.
Always looking for additional avenues to grow our business, we look forward to the offerings we will have in 2017 as well as new items we will explore for possible addition to our offerings.
