The United Clock Company

The United Clock Company was a clock company based out of Brooklyn that created electric clocks and percolators. When the Sessions Company underwent their name change back in 1956, it operated successfully until 1958. In that year, the Sessions Clock Company sustained losses of over one million dollars. In March of that same year, the company was sold to Consolidated Electronics Industries, and then continued to produce clocks for another decade or so. When the next decade rolled around, it was the United Clock Company that purchased the Sessions remaining inventory, buying them out of tools and machinery. The United Clock Company is best known for its "Carnival" clocks, as these clocks were the ones offered at carnivals should someone have won the grand prize. But very few of these were passed out, because the games were often rigged. These clocks sell now and then on the internet. The end of the 1960's saw the closing of this company

    1. Greetings Ken~
Unfortunately the United Clock Company did not make high end pieces, thus repairs can sometimes not be the easiest to accomplish. On the Anniversary style clocks the pendulum is usually rotated by a worm or eccentric gear driven off of the main motor. This gearing is usually of a plastic or phenol material and prone to failure. If you can take the back cover off the movement and send me photos I should be able to diagnose the problem for you. The best hope for repair on this piece may be to find a donor clock for parts, but I will let you know after I see the problem. email the photos to pineknoll@zoominternet.net

    2. Thanks, I did look at the gears, they are all brass (a good thing) but I think the problem is the worm gear shaft seems to move up & down causing the pendulum not to turn causing the motor not moving - I will send you a picture.
      Thanks,
      Ken

  3. I have a United Clock Corp Model 990 that just stopped working. Any ideas on where I can take it to get it repaired? If I turn the part where the dancers are manually it will work for an hour or so and then stop. Do you think its the motor or gears and is it expensive to fix?

  9. This piece is not available at any parts house that I am aware of. The best source would be finding a donor clock on any of the online auctions or local sales in your area
